Though I’ve never been there, I would have thought that Memphis was a pretty thriving city, what with its tourist attractions (hello, Graceland!) and amazing food (hello, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives
!), or so I’ve heard. But it turns out that the city has been hit pretty hard with devastating job loss numbers.
Within the past ten years, the state of Tennessee has lost 99,000 jobs, all of them in the private sector. This averages out to about 4 percent of the entire state’s private sector workforce. This rate helped make the state of Tennessee number 43 out of all 50 states in employment.
